Last month I wrote about my venture of setting up an online shop and the type of jewellery I was going to be making for it.  To see this article click here.

Well after a few weeks of tweaking and rearranging I’m delighted to announce that www.claddaghdesign.com has gone live!

The website has a selection of mens jewellery all with an Irish theme. I decided to launch the shop with a core range and then expand in the future. I could keep putting off the opening of the shop until I had more stock but I think it’s better to have the work out there. Who knows what direction it might take as customers react to the collection?

I’ve also started a blog on the website. It’s going to be very different from this blog and will cater for people with an interest in Irish jewellery and mens fashion. I love researching different areas like this and all in the name of ‘work’!

You might ask why Claddagh Design, why not Eileen Moylan’s jewellery? I decided to make the two sites separate so I could keep “EileenMoylan.com” as the online presence for my sculptural work where I can continue to talk about other work that I like and the different techniques I use. Once I came to this decision I then had to think of a name for my Irish jewellery website. Claddagh is the word that people worldwide associate with Irish jewellery. So I thought let’s stick with what we’re known for around the world! The shop doesn’t just stock Claddagh jewellery, there are lots of other designs. I hope you agree that these are an alternative to the  mass produced “Irish” jewellery that is widely available online.

Like this website Claddagh Design welcomes commissions and special orders. So I’ve been in contact with people around the world who are looking for personalised Irish jewellery. I love this side of the job, it’s great to see people take your jewellery and weave their own personal stories and meanings into the designs.

So now that you know what it’s called and where it is be sure to take and look and let me know what you think.
